Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users of WebSphere MQ who have an unusual setup where the transmit queue for the channel is an alias queue and the corresponding channel is in "running" state when an endmqm is issued. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: During endmqm, channels need to be shut down. This can require cancelling a thread waiting for a message on a transmit queue. If the waiter is unusually attempting to get from an alias to that queue, the wakeup attempt may fail. That failure is due to an internal attempt to lock the object catalogue when the alias queue is locked, which violates the locking rules.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere MQ code has been corrected to ensure that the locking in the area concerned follows the required locking rules. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.3 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.1.0.3 AIX 7.1.0.3 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.3 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.3 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.3 iSeries 7.1.0.3 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.3 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.3 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.3 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.3 Platform v7.5 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.5.0.2 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
