Error description

  • There is a combination of several factors which cause the
    error:

    1. The channel uses a fastpath connection
    2. When the message is retrieved from the queue the MQRFH2
header is stripped from the message, either to pass the
properties in a handle or to discard the properties.
    3. The size of the message in total is bigger than 8192
    bytes
    4. Async consume is in use.

In the investigation of the trace it was noticed that the data
in the message returned by the second MQGET is in fact
completely different to the data in the message returned by the
browse MQGET and is not different in only the single character
noted by the customer. Additionally, the message length is also
    different.

Local fix

  • Changing any of these conditions should be sufficient to work
around the problem. The easiest is to connect the channels
using normal bindings rather than fastpath connection.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
There are a number of conditions for the message buffer not to
    contain the correct message data:

    - Fastpath connection.
    - Message properties are either discarded or returned in a
    message handle.
    - The message data is bigger than 8192 bytes.
    - Async consume is in use.

If all these conditions are met then the buffer returned to the
calling application does not contain the message body from the
    current message.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ product code has been updated so that the
message data is correctly returned to the calling application
whilst operating under the conditions listed in the problem
    summary .
