IV32528: CRASH OR UNDEFINED BEHAVIOUR AFTER REDEFINING CLASSES IN DEBUG M ODE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: After redefining classes in debug mode (e.g. from
the java debugger) with the JIT on, it is possible the JVM will
crash or exhibit undefined behaviour (possibly executing the
pre-redefine version of the affected classes).

Stack Trace: N/A
.

Local fix

  • Running with -Xint would work around this issue.

Problem summary

  • The issue is caused by the JVM executing stale compiled code
after the redefinition.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
7.0.0 SR4
6.0.1 SR5
.
The JVM has been updated to ensure execution of the replaced
classes.
