Error description

  • A probe AD031045 FDC, with the first data block in the FDC
being the value 9 (meaning EBADF), from adiWriteFile in a
multi-instance queue manager may be encountered. Examples
showing the data block containing the value 9 are:

    Example 1:
    ---------{ xcsFFST
    ....
    ffffffff6f93ba70 00000009 ....
    ....

    Example 2:
    ----------{ xcsFFST
    ....
    0x406c3750 09000000 ....

The EBADF is the error return from an action (such as seek) on
a bad file descriptor. Other FDCs may be reported from other
locations in MQ for attempts to act on a bad file descriptor.

Another possible issue that could be encountered, relating to
this problem, would be corruption of a queue file.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This problem only affects a queue manager configured to be
multi-instance. Then, there is a small risk of the problem being
encountered subsequent to queue files being closed.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When a queue manager is configured as multi-instance, the
opening and closing of queue files between multiple threads is
not handled reliably, and there is therefore the possibility of
    file descriptor confusion between threads.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic for handling queue files for queue managers configured
as multi-instance, has been reworked to ensure management of
queue files is correctly performed without confusion between
    threads.
