APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The subscription object for a wildcard subscription is not being
correctly linked to all matching topic nodes when the SubName
    contains '/'s.

This means that when querying subscriptions on a topic, whether
for a DISPLAY TPSTATUS(..) TYPE(SUB) command or when publishing
a message to the topic, the subscription is not found.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of publish/subscribe, with wildcard subscriptions that
have a '/' character in the SubName

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The routine that calculates the number of levels in the
subscription topic incorrectly parses the SubName and the topic
string to discover the number of levels.

If the calculated number of levels is higher than expected, the
subscription does not receive matching publications.

Problem conclusion

  • The function that calculates the number of topic levels has been
changed to parse the topic string and to count the number of
    levels correctly.
