APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a machine is heavily loaded, there is a timing condition
within the name resolution function of a queue manager that
allows it to give up immediately rather than wait for responses
to its queries to cluster Full Repositories.

The error message from MQOPEN or MQPUT1 would be 2085
    MQRC_UNKNOWN_OBJECT_NAME

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of WebSphere MQ Queue Manager clusters, at times when
machines hosting putting applications are heavily loaded when
they first MQOPEN/MQPUT1 a Cluster Queue.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When first opening a Cluster Queue for output, the local queue
manager executes a sequence of actions including subscribing to
the Full Repository queue managers for information about that
    queue.

In rare circumstances, if the local queue manager is very busy,
or if the machine hosting it is very busy, then a race condition
might cause the MQOPEN/MQPUT1 activity to give up too soon
waiting for information about the Cluster Queue.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix has been made to the code to close the race condition,
such that the queue manager will no longer give up waiting too
soon for information about the queue.
