APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Martian packets with the loopback (127.0.0.1) address are
    received on interfaces other than lo0 and processed
    instead
    of discarded.
    

Local fix

  • Disable checksum offload.
    

Problem summary

  • martian packet check is bypassed when checksum offload is
    enabled. This might cause denial of service or evesdrop.
    Though driver should drop this kind of packets. But with
    particula HEA adapter with promiscous mode enabled will
    just forward such packets to ip layer without any check
    

Problem conclusion

  • Move martian packet check before the checksum offload check.
