IV14550: REMOTELY STOPPING NON "EN_US" AGENTS CRASHES TEMS.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When attempting to stop a UL Agent which is running on an
  endpoint whose locale is NOT 'en_US' will results in the
  TEMS crashing.
  
  The endpoint code is using en_US string to filter messages from
  the itmcmd execute utility.  The itmcmd utility should return
  messages with ITM message Identifiers (i.e  KCI20003I)
  preceeding text strings.  The kdy_xa utility should recognize
  the ITM message identifier rather than the en_US text string.
  
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  
  Install TEMS on Unix system with locale fr_FR
  Install Unix OS Agent on Unix system with locale fr_FR
  Install UL Agent on Unix system with locale fr_FR
  Issue tacmd stopagent -n unixhost:UL
  

Local fix

• Change locale of endpoint to en_US from current native language
  locale.
  

Problem summary

• When attempting to remotely stop an agent running on UNIX or
  Linux in a non-English locale (not en_US), this may result in a
  monitoring server crash. This can occur with any tacmd commands
  that involve stopping an agent such as stopAgent, updateAgent,
  or restartAgent. This can also occur through the equivalent
  portal client capability.
  

Problem conclusion

• The condition has been addressed to correctly handle the
  non-English agent locales.
  
  
  Install Actions:
  This is a fix to the remote deploy module running on the agent.
  Upgrade the OS agent for the fix to be effective.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Change the locale of the agent machine to en_US.
