Error description

  • WebSphere MQ Utility Manager (Pubsub Restartable) process
(amqzmuf0) during its processing does the following operations

    psiReceivePSCommands
    psiConnect
    psiConnect
    psiGetMsg
    psiGetMsg
    psiBack

It opens the queue SYSTEM.INTER.QMGR.CONTROL and sits on an
MQGET waiting for a message to arrive. PSMODE(DISABLED) is set
in this environment at queue manager shutdown, the Utility
Manager functions will be returned rc2009
    MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN on the MQGET :

On return from psiGetMsg in CMQXZMUP we exit and on exit we
do a backout (MQBACK in psiBack) if there has been any error,
we then do MQCLOSE and then MQDISC.

cmqxzmup should not perform the psiBack, MQCLOSE and MQDISC
    after getting rc2009 in psiGetMsg.

Local fix

  • do a stop qmgr mode(quiesce)
    or
if psmode(disabled) meaning we do not use pubsub
    then delete the queue SYSTEM.INTER.QMGR.CONTROL
    .
Do not forget to recreate it once the problem
    is fixed

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
MQ Pub/Sub users who do a forced queue manager shut down.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
On distributed platforms as on z/OS, doing a forced queue
manager shut down will still result in an FFST due to the broken
connection, however there will be no secondary FFST's on the
distributed platforms, just MQ work being performed which will
    fail.

Problem conclusion

  • psiCHECK_BROKEN_CONN macro has been enhanced to set the hObj =
    MQHO_UNUSABLE_HOBJ and the hConn = MQHC_UNUSABLE_HCONN thus
preventing any unnecessary work being performed. Also there were
some places where psiCHECK_BROKEN_CONN was not being called when
MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN was detected, this has been fixed.
