APAR status

Error description

  • Error Message: NetworkInterface.getByName() returns null for a
valid entry on a Linux system.

This usually happens on the systems on which large number of
virtual interfaces are created and closed.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • The field size used by JVM for reading the entries from OS
properties file is not good enough to handle bigger values
(values greater than 255).

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • This defect will be fixed in:
6.0.0 SR11
6.0.1 SR3
7.0.0 SR3
.
The JVM is updated to handle any number of network interfaces by
using a bigger field size.
