Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:
    * Users of the 6100-05 Technology Level with the bos.mp64
    * fileset below the 6.1.5.11 level.
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * If a lot of file operations are happening in the system, there
    * is a possibility that the same file pointer is reused and that
    * may be different type ( For example VNODE). This can cause a
    * system crash in netinfo_unixdomnlist.
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:
    * Install APAR IV12592.
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • File lock is taken before checking whether the file type is
    socket. This change will avoid taking socket lock on non
    socket files and prevents the system from crash.
