Error description

  • On a WebSphere MQ 7.0.1 queue manager that was recently added to
    a publish/subscribe hierarchy it was found that messages on the
    queue SYSTEM.INTER.QMGR.FANREQ are not processed. There is no
    open input count on that queue. Enabling and disabling Pub/Sub
    does not help. The Pub/Sub shows as active on both the child
    and parent queue managers. No FDC's are logged.
    Some other Pub/Sub configurations on other WMQ systems work
    fine.
    .
    A WMQ trace shows the following failure:

    On the affected queue manager the qm.ini connection stanza
    DefaultBindType=ISOLATED was set.

Local fix

  • Set connection stanza DefaultBindType=SHARED instead of
    DefaultBindType=ISOLATED in the qm.ini file.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users of publish/subscribe who have configured their queue
    manager to use isolated bindings may encounter this problem.

    Platforms affected:
    All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    An issue was found in the handling of a Pub/Sub status inquiry
    action when the queue manager is configured to work in isolated
    bindings mode.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem in the handling of a Pub/Sub status inquiry action
    when the queue manager is configured to work in isolated
    bindings mode, was fixed.

    A workaround would be to remove the DefaultBindType=ISOLATED
    from the queue manager qm.ini configuration file.
