APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a VIO client ends up in the situation where it is
processing a reset ring it will attempt to free the CRQ
and then register it again.

If the partner VIOS is not up when this occurs the client
adapter will go into error state and never recover.

Local fix

  • Remove virtual FC adapter with rmdev and run cfgmgr

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • When client's H_REG_CRQ() returns H_CLOSED place the client
into VFC_NEED_INIT instead of VFC_ERROR.
