Error description

  • The dspmq command was failing, giving error code AMQ7047 on AIX.

AMQ7047: WebSphere MQ was unable to display an error message for
    message id hexadecimal 20007047, with inserts 0, 0, , and .

In addition to this, FDC records with Probe Id XC076014 were
written to /var/mqm/errors. However, the FDC records did not
mention a likely source of the error.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:

    Platforms affected:
    AIX

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The contents of the NLSPATH environment variable were causing
the WebSphere MQ message catalog facility (implemented using the
operating system facility "catopen") to fail.

On AIX, where the NLSPATH environment variable has been set by
the user, and its value includes an element without a %N
(percent-N) token, and this element evaluates to a real
directory name in the system, then the catopen() call will stop
searching the NLSPATH at that point.

This is documented in the AIX manual pages here:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/aix/v6r1/topic
    /com.ibm.aix.basetechref/doc/basetrf1/catopen.htm

This APAR for WebSphere MQ on AIX introduces some additional
text to the FDC record with Probe Id XC076014, to suggest the
user looks at their NLSPATH setting for a possible root cause
when their message catalog cannot be found by catopen().

Problem conclusion

  • Some additional text has been added to the FDC record with Probe
Id XC076014 (for WebSphere MQ on AIX, only). The text suggests
that the user looks at their NLSPATH setting for a possible root
cause when their message catalog cannot be found by catopen().
