Error description
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The HUB RAS1 log contains thousands of messages stating "Sequence number overflow, reusing 999". Hundreds or thousands of these messages occur every second. RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS: - Set the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE situation to have a interval of less than 1 minute. - Restart the HUB. - Problem occurs almost immediately. Check the HUB's RAS1 log for the secquence number overflow messages.
Local fix
Do either one of the following: - Change the interval on the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE situation to be at least minute - 3 minutes is recommended. It appears this is set to 30 seconds right now. - Specify the HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL in the TEMS configuration file.
Problem summary
RAS1 log contains "Sequence number overflow, reusing 999". The hub monitoring server RAS1 log contains thousands of messages stating "Sequence number overflow, reusing 999". Hundreds or thousands of these messages occur every second. These messages appear just after the monitoring server start. The problem is caused by the monitoring server heartbeat being issued as quickly. This occurs when the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE situation has an interval of less than one minute. The situation does not have to be started for this problem to occur.
Problem conclusion
The monitoring server now to includes the "seconds" value from the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE situation when determining the monitoring server heartbeat interval. It appears CTIRA_HEARTBEAT can be set in the configuration file as another means to control the monitoring server heartbeat interval. The variable takes precedence over the value in the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE situation. The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance packages: | fix pack | 6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0007
Temporary fix
Change the QOMEGAMON_ONLINE interval to be at least one minute. Three minutes is the recommended value.
