Error description
Ths chfs command fails to change the J2 file system: # chfs -a freeze=10 /u01/ist13/ist13inst chfs: getvfsfromdev: Read-only file system Customer J2 file system is not read-only: # mount | grep ist13inst /dev/ist13instlv /u01/ist13/ist13inst jfs2 Jan 24 09:50 rw,log=INLINE The file system major device number is 88: # ls -al /dev/ist13instlv brw-rw---- 1 ist13 dba 88, 1 Jan 24 09:50 /dev/ist13instlv There is also a NFS file system mounted read-only, mounted before the J2 file system: # mount | grep nfs host1 /install /install nfs3 Jan 11 21:08 ro,bg,hard,intr,sec=sys
Local fix
Unmounting and remounting the NFS file system will move its entry past the J2 file system entry and will fix the problem. In the longer term, all file systems in that volume group should be unmounted, a new volume group should be created, and the file system(s) should be copied to the new volume group using the cplv command. The old volume group can not be deleted and the old file systems should not be mounted; the new file systems should be used instead.
