• Closed as program error.

Error description

• There are two bugs here - if you could get a single
  APAR raised to cover both that would be good. I've
  attached a fixed Collector but please still raise an
  APAR.
  
   Bug 1: Is that the XML response from the SAM
  may not always include characters that the XML parser
  we use can parse. This causes the Collector to exit.
     I actually saw this bug at another
  customer and have had the fix waiting for the APAR
  which they never raised (I can't put any code changes
  into older versions without an APAR)
   Bug 2: It turns out that the XML data that
  fails to parse is part of a mass of data that we are
  unintentionally requesting from the SAM.
    The Physical Link download code code
  makes a request for a SAM object but forgets to limit
  the download to the top level object - basically we
  just want the device name but end up downloading ALL
  known data for the device from the SAM.. I assume this
  hasn't been seen before because if only affects one
  type of remote link.
  

Local fix

• None. L3 has a Test Fix in the following:
  Fixed both of these issues in the
  Alcatel5620SamSoapCollector.pm which you need to copy
  to your $PRECISION_HOME/collectors/perlCollectors/
    Alcatel5620SamSoap dir.

Problem conclusion

• The Alcatel5620SamSoap Collector has been modified to prevent
  exit when unparsable XML is received (it will print an error
  instead). Also the unparsable XML originated due to an
  unintended full data download from certain devices during
  physical link discovery; this has been fixed too.
