IV04502: MKSYSB MIGRATION DOES NOT CREATE A NEW NODE ID APPLIES TO AIX 5300-11

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • mksysb migration from AIX 5.3 to 6.1 TL3 does not create
    a
    new node id.
    Node id is same as it is on the mksysb image which
    results
    in problems with RMC operations of HMC.
    

Local fix

  • After the migration, invoke the
    /usr/sbin/rsct/install/bin/recfgct command, which will
    regenerate the node specific configuration information.
    

Problem summary

  • mksysb migration from AIX 5.3 to 6.1 TL3 does not create
    a new node ID.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Added code to regenerate the node ID in case of
    mksysb/migration.
