Error description

  • If an Oracle database failover occurs for an Oracle database
    that is accessed using LDAP then it is necessary to manually
    edit the odbc.ini file and then restart ACE before processing
    can continue.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
    All users who use LDAP when accessing a multi-instance Oracle
    database via ODBC
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    AIX, WinX64, LinuxX64, LinuxZ64, LinuxPPCLE64

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    When an Oracle database that is access using LDAP fails over to
    aother instance the odbc.ini file has to be manally altered with
    the new LDAP setting. ACE must then also be restarted so as the
    change to the odbc.ini file is picked up.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A new level of the DataDirect Oracle ODBC driver has been
    supplied that allows the specification of alternative LDAP
    servers. This removes the need to manually reconfigure the
    odbc.ini file and restart ACE after Oracle has been failed over
    to another instance.
