Error description
On the IBM Storage Protect server 8.1.27.000 version, the PROTECT STGPOOL TYPE=LOCAL server command may hang indefinitely during its processing. The QUERY PROCESS server command, run time by time during process execution, will start showing no progress in the statistics reporting (except for the Elapsed time). ie. Local fix
The server option SDLOCALPROTNEWBATCHNDCHUNKSSQL can be dynamically set to FALSE and server option SDLOCALPROTNEWBATCHCHUNKSSQL can be dynamically set to TRUE to bypass the problem. Run the following server command using the Administrative Command Line (dsmadmc) to adjust them: SETOPT SDLOCALPROTNEWBATCHNDCHUNKSSQL FALSE SETOPT SDLOCALPROTNEWBATCHCHUNKSSQL TRUE Then start the PROTECT STGPOOL <STGPOOL_NAME> TYPE=LOCAL process as usual.

Problem conclusion
Apply fixing level when available. This problem is currently projected to be fixed in level 8.2.0 and 8.1.27.100. Note that this is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
