APAR status

• Closed as documentation error.

Error description

• After adding new data collection commands into the servermon
  command.ini file, servermon
  doesn't run them.
  
  After IBM Storage Protect server and servermon process restart
  the newly added data
  collection is not collected in servemon data since the
  commands.ini file is rewritten
  every time when servermon starts.

Local fix

• From the IBM Storage Protect server installation directory copy
  the commandscustom.ini
  file into the IBM Storage Protect server instance servermon
  directory. Update the
  servermon_10min stanza (it will collect data every 10 minutes),
  servermon_20min
  stanza (it will collect data every 20 minutes) or
  servermon_60min stanza (it will
  collect data every 60 minutes) in the copied commandscustom.ini
  file and add entries
  for additional data collection:
  
  For example:
  To collect gstacks/pstacks add the entry below in the
  commandscustom.ini file after
  the file has been copied from the IBM Storage Protect server
  installation directory
  to the IBM Storage Protect server instance servermon directory
  LIN:/usr/bin/pstack PID
  or
  LIN:/usr/bin/gstack PID
  
  Do not put in both, as just one or the other is needed,
  whichever is installed on
  the operating system.
  
  Redhat Linux installs pstack and SUSE Linux installs gstack.
  
  Restart of the IBM Storage Protect server is required to enable
  the newly added
  data collection commands to be run by servermon.
