Error description
Telnet 3270 session is configured for auto-reconnect with AutoReconnectRetries=3 keyword. When the network connection is lost (unplug Ethernet cable) and then restored and user hits ENTER several time, the session shows COMM656 error and never recovers. Windows Application Event log shows PCSCM crash in VCRUNTIME140.DLL
Local fix
Remove the AutoReconnectRetries keyword from the WS file
Problem summary
To recreate the issue, follow these steps: 1. Establish a session connection with "AutoReconnectRetries" configured. 2. Disconnect the internet by unplugging the Ethernet cable or disabling Wi-Fi. 3. Press the Enter key - observe the "Busy" status on the OIA bar. 4. Reconnect to the internet and press Enter multiple times. 5. PComm throws error 656 and fails to recover. 6. If the user disconnects and reconnects the session, it hangs.
Problem conclusion
Code changes have been made to prevent reconnection attempts from leading to an unresponsive state.
