Error description

  • If virtual machines on VMware version ESXi 8.0.3 are restored in
    clone or production mode, the following error can be shown in
    the job log of the 'onDemandrestore':
    
    ERROR,..,CTGGA1020,Failed to create VM (NewVM).
                       Error=(HypervisorVMReconfException)
    ERROR,..,CTGGA0939,Failed to register VM (NewVM).

    * can restore the backups taken on ESXi 8.0.3 on ESXi version  *
    * 8.0.x (where x<3)                                            *

Problem conclusion

  • In IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.x. The issue was seen when
    customer upgraded to vSphere/ESXi 8.0.3. The issue was discussed
    with VMware support. As advised by VMware support now we are
    sending disk add and remove in two different configurations.
    This bug is fixed in Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.16.4
