Error description
The following warning message appears during AUDIT LIBRARY command when an empty tape drive slot exists in the library but no tape drive is using that slot: ANR9759W The server cannot locate the tape drive with the 123 address because the serial number of the tape drive could not be identified. No tape drive or path can be defined for that slot as there is no tape drive here, but for an IBM library, an ITDT INVENTORY command shows the drive slot with status abnormal: Drive Address 123 Drive State ................... Problem conclusion
This problem was fixed. Platforms fixed: AIX, Linux, and Windows ANR9759W The server cannot locate the tape drive with the XYZ address because the serial number of the tape drive could not be identified. Explanation During the drive inventory operation, no serial number was identified for the specified tape drive. This error might be caused by a hardware or library configuration issue , or the drive is removed from the specified drive slot. A tape drive must have a serial number to be used by the server. SystemAction System operation continues. UserResponse To resolve the error, take one or more of the following actions: -Ensure that all tape drives are operational.</li> -Verify the library configuration. Drive addresses must be consecutively numbered, as shown in this example: 100, 101, 102. If drive addresses are not consecutively numbered (for example,100, 106, 109), correct the issue.
