APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus UI, under Restore Points,
    snapshots may still be visible for restore even though they have
    exceeded their defined retention period.
    The maintenance job log does not show any errors or indication
    of any issues.
    The Virgo log for the maintenance job run contains the following
    errors.

Problem conclusion

  • In IBM Spectrum Protect 10.1.15.3 and later, a bug was
    introduced where notifications could not be removed during
    maintenance, causing maintenance tasks (such as snapshot
    removal) to fail. This could cause expired snapshots to be left
    behind and visible on the Restore screen. In IBM Spectrum
    Protect Plus 10.1.16.2 and 10.1.17, this bug has been resolved
    and snapshots are correctly expired.
