IT45528: MISSING A CLEAR STATEMENT THAT A VADP PROXY CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON AN OPEN SNAP STORE MANAGER (OSSM)

Error description

• The documentation for IBM Storage Protect Plus is missing a
  clear statement that a VADP proxy cannot be installed on
  an Open Snap Store Manager (OSSM). The OSSM documentation
  just provides information about running a VADP on vSnap
  server and states that a vSnap and an OSSM must be separate
  servers, but it does not explicitly state that a VADP
  cannot be run in an OSSM.
  If a VADP proxy and an OSSM agent are not split - the
  services that are exposed on the same ports will cause a
  conflict. In addition, the internal database of OSSM agent
  requires a large portion of system's memory - installing
  both on the same server could cause resource issues.

Problem conclusion

• In the ?System requirements: IBM Storage Protect Plus? technote
  from version 10.1.12 to 10.1.15, the ?VADP proxy connected to
  Open Snap Store Manager (OSSM) storage server? section has
  missed the information about where to install the VADP proxy
  that is used with the OSSM server.
  
  So, we have updated the ?VADP proxy connected to Open Snap Store
  Manager (OSSM) storage server? section of the technote to add
  the following text:
  
  ?The VADP proxy that is used with OSSM cannot be installed on
  the same machine where the IBM Storage Protect server is
  installed. The VADP proxy that is used with OSSM must be
  installed on its own machine.?
