APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The dsmicfgx.exe configuration wizard may fail to complete IBM
    Storage Protect server instance configuration at final step,
    when defining server defaults, such as admin, storage pools and
    standard domain. The wizard will report an error at the very end
    of the configuration processing, stating that Runfile.In could
    not be opened due to "The network path was not found" error.
    
    The dsmicfgx.trc log file will show the following:

    This can happen if a "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
    Networks" (ms_server) binding is disabled in the network adapter
    properties. This can be verified from Power Shell as shown in
    below example.

Local fix

  • Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing
    Center > Change adapter settings (from panel on the left side)
    select network adapter that has been identified to have
    ms_server binding disabled, open adapter properties and enable
    "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" binding.
