Error description

  • Memory leak in Storage Protect Server can be found when running
replication. It manifests with dsmserv binary consuming more and
    more memory until it
eventually crashes. This is caused by an APAR IT41527.

Running SHOW ALLOC from dsmadmc in few iterations, the following
    can be seen:

    ...
    nrfs.c line 4208: 475634 entries for 5098796480 bytes
    (FromCache) thread 1(main parent=0)
    tbtbl.c line 7044: 493546 entries for 2552240544 bytes
    (TbAllocRowResult) thread 1(main parent=0)
    ...

The allocation from nrfs.c keeps growing in number and size and
there is a corresponding increase in the growth from tbtbl.c

Storage Protect versions affected: 8.1.17 and later on all
    platforms.

Additional Keywords: memory, dsmserv, Storage Protect,
    TS014354888, IT41527
