However, Storage Insights does not consistently generate alerts for the deleted backup volumes. Some backup volumes have a corresponding volume deleted alerts while others do not.

The SafeGuarded Copy technology at the center of this APAR is now considered "old" technology (referred to as SGC 1.0). We suggest customers now use the new SGC 2.0 technology with Policy Based Replication and Volume Group Snapshots to implement their SafeGuarded Copy work. 2. If the customer continues using the SGC 1.0 technology, we suggest that customers migrate the data collection for the relevant storage devices from Data Collector to Call Home With Cloud services for a better experience with regards to receiving alerts in Storage Insights when SafeGuarded backup volumes are created and deleted. 3. With the resolution of this APAR, alerts are now getting triggered for the deleted SafeGuarded backup volumes as soon as the mini-probe occurs, except in the following situations: a. When the storage device created the SafeGuarded backup volumes but did not delete the existing SafeGuarded backup volumes yet by the time Storage Insights ran a mini-probe. b. If the SafeGuarded backup happens when the storage device had already sent a bellwether on storage volume, and it did not cool down yet. In these two cases, there will be a delay in Storage Insights updating those volumes and triggering the alert. And Storage Insights cannot do anything about that delay ... hence the recommendation to migrate from Data Collector to Call Home with Cloud Services.
