Error description

• Restore of a Hyper-V VM can be unsuccessful if the VM's disk was
  reduced in size without running an incremental-forever full
  (-mode=iffull) backup after the size reduction.
  
  The problem can occur if the VM disk was previously larger when
  it was backed up, then later the size was reduced without
  running a full backup of the VM after the size reduction. In
  such a case, restore of a backup version created after the size
  reduction is ends with the "ANS0324E partialObjLength value for
  partial object retrieve is invalid" message.
  
  Here is an example scenario:
  1. Data Protection for Hyper-V is used to back up a VM using the
  incremental-forever backup methodology (initial
  "incremental-forever full" followed by one or more
  "incremental-forever incremental" backups).
  
  2. The VM's disk is subsequently reduced in size.
  
  3. Data Protection for Hyper-V continues to run
  "incremental-forever incremental" backups of the VM.
  
  In this scenario, a restore of the VM might not succeed. During
  the restore operation, the following error is reported in
  dsmerror.log:
  ANS0324E partialObjLength value for partial object retrieve is
  invalid.
  ANS4311E Full VM restore of 'Hyper-V' Virtual Machine 'XXXXX'
  failed with RC=34 target node name='XXXXX', data mover node
