**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All IBM Personal Communications users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * PComm session crashes when AppData location is redirected to * * UNC path like a network location * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Below are steps to recreate the problem. 1) Open Registry editor 2) Go to below registry hive Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer sion\Explorer\User Shell Folders 3) Change APPDATA to have a UNC path like a network resource Example: Modify %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming to some network path name 4) Launch the PCOMM session and it will crash
Problem conclusion
PCSPREF.DLL code changes have been made to validate the network (UNC) path.
