Error description
After adding new FlashSystem storage to be monitored in Storage Insights, the probe data is collected but the performance monitor has a "Task Expired" status and no performance data is collected. The FlashSystem was added with a user that has monitor role, which is supported. However, the statistics collection needed to be enabled on the FlashSystem storage first with a user that has administrator role. The Performance Monitor Status of "Task Expired" does not provide detail indicating that the user role is what is preventing the data collection. Something like "Insufficient role to collect data" would provide more information back to the end user to correct the situation. [ERROR] Error while processing the statists com.ibm.srm.dc.common.exception.PdcAuthorizationException: SVC API call "svctask startstats -interval 5" failed for agent <IP_ADDRESS>. ( CMMVC9027E The task has failed because the user's role is not authorized to submit the command.) SVC API call "svctask startstats -interval 5" failed for agent <IP_ADDRESS>. ( CMMVC9027E The task has failed because the user's role is not authorized to submit the command.)
Local fix
If the user has the Monitor role on the storage system, IBM Storage Insights can't automatically restart the collection. To manually start the collection of performance metadata on the storage system, complete the following steps: Log on to the storage system as a user with the Administrator, or SecurityAdmin role. Run the following command:svctask startstats -interval 5
