Error description

  • Remove replnode command can set the replication state to NONE
    on a source

IBM Spectrum Protect sever for nodes which have been run in a
    multi-target replication

    environment.

This APAR can be identified by the steps:
    1) QUERY REPLNODE NODE1 on source server will show outputs below
before remove replnode command is issued:
    Protect: SERVER1>q replnode NODE1

Node Name Type Filespace Name FSID

The node is in REPL_MODE SYNCSEND on the source replication
    server:

    NODE1 ENABLED SYNCSEND

    2) After remove replnode command is issued for one of the
    target replication server:

    Protect: SERVER1>remove replnode NODE1 server=SERVER2
ANR1629W REMOVE REPLNODE: This command will result in ending the
replication relationship for all nodes that match the
pattern NODE1. Replication will no longer be performed for the
    specified node(s).

ANR1631I REMOVE REPLNODE: Replication state information for the
    specified nodes have been removed.

The REPL_MODE and REPL_STATE for this node are changed to NONE:
    Protect: SERVER1>select node_name,repl_state,repl_mode from

    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
IBM Spectrum Protect Server 8.1.13 and later on all supported
    platforms

    Additional Keywords:
    Spectrum Protect; TSM; remove; replnode; replication;
    multi-target replication; TS010955828

Local fix

  • Update the affected node on the source replication server to
    SYNCSEND

and the on target replication servers to SYNCRECEIVE.
    Source:
    update node NODE1 REPLSTATE=ENABLED REPLMODE=SYNCSEND
    On all remaining target servers:
    update node NODE1 REPLSTATE=ENABLED REPLMODE=SYNCRECEIVE
