APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Description:
    The Automatic Client Deployment feature executed via IBM
    Spectrum Protect Operations Center, will not work if the SPOKE
    server is not also configured as a Target server for
    Replication. As result of this behavior, the "Schedule Update"
    button will be greyed out. All clients are affected, those bound
    to the HUB but also those bound to the SPOKE.

Local fix

  • On the Hub server:
    
             1. Create a temporary replication type storage rule:
                    DEFINE STGRULE temprule <name of the spoke
    server> ACTIONTYPE=replicate ACTIVE=no
           2.  Wait a 2 to 5 minutes.  Then run QUERY REPLSERVER to
    see if the Spoke server is in the list.
            3.  Once spoke server is in the QUERY REPLSERVER list
    next time the client deployment package manager automatically
                wakes up  to refresh client packages it will l try
    replicating the client packages to the spoke.
    
    
    
                 Alternatively, if you cant wait for the next day
    you can re- try the client deployment refresh package by running
    the undocumented Server
    
                   command:
    
                            REFRESH PKG
             4.  You can remove the temporary storage rule with the
    DELETE STGRULE command:
                          DELETE STGRULE temprule
