Error description

  • 8.1.15 server crash can occur when using replicate node or
replication storage rules, to process grouped object inventory
such as VM data and system state objects.
For the server to experience this issue, it requires the
replication process to have skipped a grouped object member when
sending data. This can happen due to the replication process
overlapping with another processes such as a backup or other
data ingest. The skipped object must be part of the first batch
of objects to be replicated for the node's filespace.

On AIX, using dbx, the stack will be similar to:

    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
IBM Spectrum Protect Server 8.1.15.000 and higher on all
    supported platforms

Additional Keywords: TSM TS009929870 abend crash core

Local fix

  • Run replicate node or replication storage rules outside of
    the backup window.
