Error description

  • With IBM Spectrum Protect, cloud container storage pools with a
cloud cache (storage pool directories) defined can make use of a
read cache by enabling the "CloudReadCache" parameter of the
storage pool. A problem exists where this read cache is not
terminated and cleaned up when the parameter is later disabled.
The internal thread associated with the read cache will continue
    to run.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
The QUERY CLOUDREADCACHE command will show that the read cache
for the storage pool is disabled, however it will continue to
remain active in the background. If the "CloudReadCache"
parameter is enabled once more, the QUERY CLOUDREADCACHE
    statistics will also not reset.

It will appear as though the read cache for a cloud container
storage pool has been disabled, however it will continue to be
    operational in the background.

IBM Spectrum Protect Server version Affected:
Spectrum Protect Servers 8.1.12 and later on all supported
    platforms.

Additional Keywords: CLOUDREADCACHE READCACHE READ CACHE CLOUD
    CONTAINER

Local fix

  • After disabling the "CloudReadCache" parameter for a cloud
container storage pool, restart the IBM Spectrum Protect server
    to terminate the read cache.
