APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect backup-archive client dsmc command
might stop during backup, when the following conditions are
fullfilled:
- the "detail" option is enabled
- the option "subdir" is set to "yes"
- the backup is for a part of a file system, only.
   For example, the path is like /<fs>/<dir>
- there is no trailing '/' at the end of the path

Affected versions: Backup-archive client 8.1.14 and 8.1.15 on
UNIX platforms

Local fix

  • Run the command without using the "-detail" option or change the
path pattern to end with '/'.

Problem conclusion

  • Crash won't be occur anymore. Incremental backup run
successfully with "-subdir=yes" and "-detail" options specified
