Error description
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Container Backup Support installs Red Hat OpenShift API for Data Protection (OADP) operator as a dependency to run backups, snapshots, and restores of Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift resources. In some environments, Red Hat OADP operator 1.0.3 might be installed instead of Red Hat OADP operator 1.0.2. Installation of Container Backup Support fails to deploy the Velero deployment and the agent to configure OADP operator correctly. This configuration error causes jobs with involved resources to fail. This error can be confirmed by checking the version of OADP operator installed with Container Backup Support. To check, retrieve the Cluster Service Versions objects in the installation namespace in the Red Hat OpenShift Console or by using command line by running: "oc get ClusterServiceVersions --namespace <install namespace>". The typical installation namespace is "baas". If the OADP operator version is 1.0.3, the error is confirmed. Note: When you upgrade to OADP 1.0.3, the operator introduces updates that can break the existing deployments. For more information, see Red Hat ticket https://access.redhat.com/support/cases/#/case/03252265. Affected levels: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Container Backup Support 10.1.10 and 10.1.11 on Red Hat OpenShift environments.
Local fix
Run the following command line command to edit the OADP Velero deployment configuration: "oc edit dataprotectionapplication --namespace <install namespace>". The typical install namespace is "baas" Under the line "spec", add the following with indentation from the field "spec": "backupImages: false". Save and close the text editor. Navigate to the Spectrum Protect Plus server user interface and trigger an inventory job for the agent application. Wait for the inventory job to finish. Lastly, edit the Backup Storage Location object by executing from command line "oc edit BackupStorageLocation default --namespace <install namespace>". Add the following under the field "spec" with indentation. Add the value "credential:". Shift to a new line and indent again from the field "credential:". Add the field "key: cloud". Shift to a new line. Under the field "key: cloud" add the field "name: cloud-credentials". Save and close the text editor. Resource snapshots, backups, and restores should now work.
