APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If the SUBDIR YES option is in effect during backup or archive
  of an object, then error message ANS4005E is displayed for each
  subdirectory of the file specification that does not contain the
  object.
  
  
  Example: Archive a file named "newfile" in directory /test/dir1
  
  - The complete directory structure is this:
  
      /test
      /dir1
        /newdir    <= Directory
        /newfile   <= File
        /rest      <= Directory
  
  - Run this archive command:
  
    #dsmc archive /test/dir1/newfile -subdir=yes
               .......
              Archive function invoked.
  
   ANS1228E Sending of object '/test/dir1/newdir/newfile' failed.
   ANS4005E Error processing '/test/dir1/newdir/newfile': file
     not found
   ANS1228E Sending of object '/test/dir1/rest/newfile'failed.
   ANS4005E Error processing '/test/dir1/rest/newfile': file
     not found
   Normal File-->             9,588 /test/dir1/newfile [Sent]
   ANS1803E Archive processing of '/test/dir1/newfile'
    finished with failures.
  
  Note: The same result occurs if -subdir=yes is not included
  on the command line, but SUBDIR YES is in the options file or
  client option set.
  
  A similar error appears when saving a symbolic link pointing to
  nowhere even if subdir=no option is used.
  
   Example:
   (root@tsm)/test2#ls -al linktofi1
    lrwxrwxrwx  1 root bin 9 Jan 14 15:27 linktofi1 -> /test3/fi1
   (root@tsm)/test2#
  
     The file target file of the link /test3/fi1 does not exist
  anymore, a backup of the symbolic link shows=>
  
   (root@tsm)/test2#dsmc sel linktofi1
     .....
    Selective Backup function invoked.
  
   ANS1228E Sending of object '/test2/linktofi1' failed.
   ANS4005E Error processing '/test2/linktofi1': file not found
   Directory-->               4,096 /test2/ [Sent]
   ANS1016I No eligible files matching '/test2/linktofi1' were
    found.
    Selective Backup processing of '/test2/linktofi1' finished
    without failure.

Problem conclusion
