Error description
A client channel closed and a AMQ9788W: Slow DNS lookup for address '[ip_address]' error was issued, then the server-side channel process amqrmppa terminated which resulted in multiple MQ client connections being broken with MQRC 2009. On the MQ server a failure data capture (FDC) record with probe id XC027005 was produced as follows: Probe Id :- XC027005 Component :- xcsRequestMutexSem Program Name :- amqrmppa Thread :- nnn RemoteResponder Major Errorcode :- STOP Probe Description :- AMQ6109S: An internal IBM MQ Appliance error has occurred. MQM Function Stack cciResponderThread rppAdjustPool rppFindPID rppLockPool xcsRequestMutexSem xcsFFST
Local fix
Change the SHARECNV attribute on the failing SVRCONN channel to 2 or higher.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: MQ systems with SVRCONN channels configured to use SHARECNV(1) that have client applications connected and using the async-consume API Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a client channel disconnected unexpectedly, MQ's reverse DNS lookup (so that it could include the hostname in the pending AMQ9209E message) took longer than 5 seconds and timed-out. The MQ code reported the following: AMQ9788W: Slow DNS lookup for address '[ip_address]'. followed by: AMQ9209E: Connection to host '[hostname]' for channel '[channel_name]' closed. The MQ code then attempted to free the channel resources but a defect in MQ's error reporting code had invalidated the channel state which caused an error and FFST in the channel cleanup.
Problem conclusion
The defect has been fixed so the channel cleanup completes without error. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v9.2 LTS 9.2.0.6 v9.x CD 9.3.0.0 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
