APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After upgrading the server to version 8.1.12.000 or newer
    successfully, the server fails to start. Error messages
    encountered.
    
    ANR0101E secutil.c(188): Error 1115 opening table
    "SEC.Protected.Items".
    ANR2097E Unable to retrieve the master encryption key from the
    server password file, dsmserv.pwd.
    ANR9999D_3855409967 secStorePassword(secpwd.c:321) Thread<1>:
    Unable to get key of type 3:256
    
    
    This problem will occur when upgrading for the following
    versions:
    1. Original server is between 7.1.3 and 7.1.7 upgrading directly
    to 8.1.12 or newer.
    2. Original server is 8.1.0/8.1.1 upgrading directly to 8.1.12
    or newer.
    
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect / Protect Plus Versions Affected:
    Additional Keywords: TS006914234 TSM SP
    

Local fix

  • Perform the upgrade in 2 stages:
    1. Stage 1: Upgrade to any level between 8.1.2.x and 8.1.11.x.
    2. Stage 2: Upgrade to 8.1.12.x or newer.
