APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When installing the base product and TMFSERVE is not accassible
the installation/upgrade fails with 'tmfserve. error 1'.

Local fix

  • Make sure that MQ installation and runtime user has correct
access permission to start $SYSTEM.SYSTEM.TMFSERVE.

Problem summary

  • The error message is not giving the failure reason of the
underlying system call that is required to to simplify the
troubleshooting.

Problem conclusion

  • The product installer was changed to report more detailed error
message. This fix will be affected only for next major release
as this is a defect in the base installer 8.1.0.0 which cannot
be improved there as it is already shipped.
