APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In PCOMM v12.0.2 ~ v12.0.4.1 customers reported that when using
RDP to use PComm on a Chinese Windows OS, the sound feature is
not working. It was determined that this issue is related to
Microsoft Windows startup behavior. During the OS startup,
Windows fails to register the PComm WAV files. This issue is
also happening on PComm v14.x.x.x ; Since there are a lot of
users impacted IBM cannot wait for Microsoft to fix the issue.
Permanent fix will be added to PComm v14.0.5

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* Post install of PCOMM v14 when the user restarts the system, *
* Windows logon will trigger a process which registers the     *
* customization sounds of PCOMM. In Traditional Chinese        *
* Windows Server 2016 operating system, this registration      *
* process is  not running so PCOMM does not produce any sounds *
* for the user.                                                *

Problem conclusion


    

  • PCSINST.DLL has been changed to register the PCOMM customization
sounds by running PCSSOUND.EXE /b command after install.
