Error description
HSM For Windows client with 'Backup before Migration' feature enabled will fail the backup with the following messages in the dsmerror.log file: Example: ANS1228E Sending of object '\\stjhxxxx\p$\fixx\GNLINVOIxxx\L01 xxxxxx\OLD BATCHES\1 - APR16 - BACK UP REJECTIONS\L02 AES xxxxxxxxxx\00xxx62xxx.pdf' failed. ANS5283E The operation was unsuccessful. ANS1999E Incremental processing of '\\stjhxxxx\p$' stopped. ANS1999E Incremental processing of '\\stjhxxxx\o$' stopped. ANS1611E A plugin operation failed because of an internal error. In the actlog of the SP Server, you will see messages similar to the following: ANR0424W Session 3060746 for node STJHxxxx_xxx (Windows) refused - invalid password submitted. This problem only happens if Failover is configured where the HSM For Windows migration data goes to one SP Server while the 'Backup before Migration' goes to a different SP Server. Problem conclusion
The scheduled backup of the Spectrum Protect HSM - managed file system can fail if the following conditions are met: . the automated client failover is configured to the "Failover Server"; . Spectrum Protect HSM is configured to migrate files to the "HSM Server"; . Spectrum Protect BA Client is configured to back files up to the "Backup Server" . files were not backed up before migration. Note that "Failover Server", "HSM Server" and "Backup Server" are different Spectrum Protect Servers. The problem is that in this environment SP client can try to connect to wrong server and it leads to the authentification error and subsequent failure of the backup. The routine that connects to the server has been modified to correctly handle such environment.
