APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Errorlogretention and Schedlogretention cannot work on AIX if
    the following two conditions exist:
    1. Setting locale to en_HK.8859-15
    2. Client options 'errorlogretention N D' and 'schedlogretention
    N D' are used

    Every time, when schedule service is started, the old logs in
    error log and schedule log are removed even though have set the
    retention for 7 days.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
    
    Client versions 7.1.x and 8.1.x on AIX.
    

Local fix

  • Add the client option "dateformat 1" into dsm.opt file.

Problem conclusion

  • After the fix the backup-archive client will handle error logs
    correctly.
