APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a queue manager running on node 'A' is failed over to a
    standby node 'B', and then started as standby on node 'A', node
    'A' will have stale data on the standby file and incorrect
    information is displayed with 'dspmq -x' command.
    
    For example :
    On node 'B':
      dspmq -x
    QMNAME(<QMGR_NAME>) STATUS(Running as standby)
    INSTANCE(<standby_node_hostname>) MODE(Standby)
    INSTANCE(<active_node_hostname>) MODE(Active)
    
    On node 'A':
     $ dspmq -x
    QMNAME(<QMGR_NAME>) STATUS(Running)
    INSTANCE(<active_node_host_name>) MODE(Standby)
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    MQ 9.1 users executing 'dspmq -x' on failover node.
    
    
    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform
    
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    The node starting the queue manager as a standby has an open
    handle on the shared file 'standby' which is not released
    causing the other node to have stale data.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified so that handles on the shared file
    are closed properly after MQ operation.
