Error description
When restoring a VM guest using IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments - Data protection for VMware, the restore attempt fails with the following messages: ANS9427E The virtual machine 'vm_name' disk 'Hard Disk 1' could not be opened because none of the allowed transports ('transport_mode') is available. ANS0361I DIAG: ..\..\common\vm\vmcommonrestvddk.cpp(10672): vmVMwareRestoreDiskDispatcher(): one or more disk restore session threads of vmname='vm_name' failed: highest rc=7336 . ANS9447E The virtual machine 'vm_name' disk could not be opened because none of the allowed transports is available. The cause is due to a limitation of the VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) 7.0 and higher on windows base systems: https://vdc-download.vmware.com/vmwb-repository/dcr-public/ee65 cc8c-0701-4b39-a8d3-7025818a02ea/dfaaa64d-f1fc-4722-9b21-cf10fb 030eeb/VDDK-700-ReleaseNotes.html "New: I/O threads possibly not initialized on Windows. The diskLibPlugin module is dynamically loaded into vixDiskLib when programs call VixDiskLib_InitEx. On Windows, dynamic loading may result in the static thread for local storage not getting initialized. Some operations, such as fetch block map, can fail if I/O threads are created before calling VixDiskLib_InitEx. The workaround is to wait for completion of VixDiskLib_InitEx before creating any I/O threads. " VDDK version 7.0 is used with IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments - Data Protection for VMware starting version 8.1.10. IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments - Data Protection for VMware version 8.1.10 and later on Windows Additional Keywords: TS004783631, ANS9427E, ANS9447E
