APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When run from the Windows start menu, the amqilaunchelevated
    executable reports an error "Windows cannot access the specified
    device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate
    permissions to access the item." when selecting the Installation
    Type as "Load files only" from the IBM MQ fix pack loader and
    then Applying Fix pack from windows start button.
    

Local fix

  • The work around is to run an elevated command prompt and launch
    the "Apply fix pack" directly.

    All the IBM MQ users who apply MQ fix pack via windows start
    button.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    Required permissions were missing for "mqm" and "Users" which
    resulted in an error while applying fix pack via windows start
    button.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Appropriate permissions are given for "mqm" and "Users" on the
    fixpack source directory.
