Error description
When restore of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus catalog from cloud or repository server is performed, a temporary clone volume is mounted on the vSnap server and the data is restored from it. After the restore ends, the temporary volume is not cleaned up and is left behind on the vSnap server. In some cases, the problem is noticed only when the Maintenance job log shows warning messages about inability to delete snapshots that have active clones, for example: The following snapshots with active clones might not be deleted. <vSnapAddress> : SPP_<ID>_cbkup In other cases, the problem can go unnoticed if the snapshots associated with the temporary clone do not expire. The problem can be confirmed by examining the list of cloud clones on the vSnap server using command "vSnap cloud volume show". The presence of "Yes" in the column "Is Clone" indicates a clone. Under normal circumstances, a clone volume is present only when a restore job is active. If no restore jobs are active but one or more clones are still present, it indicates that they were not cleaned up correctly. Affected versions: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.5 and later
Local fix
Run "vSnap cloud volume show" and make a note of the clone volume IDs and associated partner IDs. Delete the clone volumes by using command: vSnap cloud volume delete --id <cloneVolId> --partner_id <partnerId> After the command completes, run "zpool list" and confirm that no pools are named "rpool<ID>" are present. If one or more rpools are present, it indicates the clean up did not succeed due to hung mount points. In that case, clean up the hung mounts by rebooting the vSnap server while no jobs are actively running.

Problem conclusion
Implemented code fixes to ensure temporary clone volume are deleted correctly at the end of a catalog restore job. The code fixes apply only to new restore operations going forward. Existing clones left behind from previous restores must still be cleaned up manually as described in the 'Local Fix' section.
