IT36846: VM BACKUP FAILS WITH "UNABLE TO FIND TARGET STORAGE VOLUME TO PERFORM INCREMENTAL BACKUP"

Error description

• When backing up virtual machines via IBM Spectrum Protect Plus,
  it fails with following error in job log:
  
  CTGGA2649,Backup of VM <vm-name> failed due to an unexpected
  error. Contact support for further assistance. Error: Unable to
  find target storage volume to perform incremental backup for VM
  <vm-name>
  
  When checking virgo log, it gets the volume with associated
  groupId. It further checks for the volume in CbtVolumeMapping,
  and no mapping is found:

  The volume is created and then deleted on vSnap side for some
  reasons in previous failed backup, but vSnap volume reference is
  still remained in SPP server side. Thus SPP still tries to use
  this volume mapping for subsequent backups and no volume is
  returned from vSnap side.
